Thankful Thursday!

When I was in my late 20's and early 30's I needed some guidance, I was feeling lost and needed direction, and not to feel so bad about myself or my life.  I have always been an Oprah fan and I have brought some things up about her before, but Oprah put be in the direction of Sarah Ban Breathnach and Iyanla Vanzant and I can tell you both of these women and their teachings have helped me through some rough times and to overcome some rough obstacles.

One of the things I did was create a gratitude journal, at first it was hard to see all of the blessings in my life but each day got easier because I now believe any kindness someone shows us something to be grateful for, so that is what I want to talk about today 5 things I am grateful for:

1.  Having a great lead driver who is considerate and kind who has given me great advice.
2.  Having wonderful vendors that I purchase beads from who understand about life getting in the way.
3.  Wonderful friends!
4.  My health!
5.  My family!

Have you tuned into Iyanla's new show on OWN, Iyanla Fix My Life!  I love Iyanla's approach to counseling, she helps you to figure out your roll in a situation and how you can own it and your actions.  A huge lesson, it is always so easier to blame others but the hard truth is sometimes staring right at you in the mirror.  She also encourages loving ourselves and how important that is in our goal of having a love fulfilled life.

What are you grateful for today?  I would love to hear all about it!

Much love,
Penny

  1. I had heard of that show but every time I look for it I can't find it. I am doing Art Journaling right now trying to do a page every couple of days. My focus is on positive things that I am thankful for. I believe that every experience is a lesson and the question is - what are we going to learn from it? I am trying to love myself more and in turn love others unconditionally. Great subject to bring up.

  2. when i was nursing my babies, they always seemed to eat at 4pm so i spent that time with oprah. i learned about the gratitude journal then and decided that my husband and i would make an entry every night at bed time. there were some nights we were scraping the bottom of the barrel to find gratitude and there are some nights we wrote pages. we don't do it anymore but maybe we should again.
it is always a good thing when you find something positive that speaks to you and opens your eyes to the gifts around us.

today and everyday, i am thankful for being able to be here for my kids every day when they need me. things are tight financially because of my non-paying job, but our relationships with each other are very tight, in the good meaning of the word.
