So excited for today, it is the reveal for the 3rd Annual Challenge of Color Blog Hop, hosted by Erin of Treasures Found and Brandi of Brandi Girl Blog. I haven't participated in this hop before and I was very excited, because Erin is always trying to stretch herself and us creatively and help us expand our horizons. All of the participants were given two palettes, with the colors so beautifully pulled together by Brandi! I loved both of my palettes when I received them, and in honor of challenging myself I chose to use both and create something from each. I am a lover of color but I have realized that I definitely stick to certain colors when I design, mostly earthy colors, but brown, blue, green and orange.
The pictures that were used to create the palettes were from the Earth As Art exhibit from the United States Geological Service taken from the Landsat 7 satellite. They are phenomenal, I have only seen what Erin has posted and my own so I am very excited to see the others and look for some further inspiration.
My first palette was the Atlas Mountains, aren't the colors so beautiful and who would have thought that Chartreuse, Navy and plum would look so lovely.
The piece that I created for this was actually something that I designed previously that was sitting in my jewelry box because I wasn't completely satisfied. The focal is a lampwork bead that my mom purchased for me while visiting the Maritime's a few years ago. The finished product turned out very light and airy!
My second palette was a bit more challenging for me because I really wanted to try and incorporate all of the colors in my design, and I wanted an eclectic feel for my piece. The inspiration for this piece actually came from a Silpada catalog that I was looking through and found a necklace that I thought captured what I wanted to achieve.
I love red, it isn't a color that I wear often or use when designing but I love the rich vibrancy of red! It always looks stunning when paired with blue tones. The Colima Volcano had me dancing with glee.
Thank you to Erin and Brandi for putting this wonderful blog hop together, I can't wait to start hopping.
Please check out the other participates and what they created on the 3rd Annual Challenge of Color Blog Hop!

Michael's Toast of the Town Blog Hop!
Today is the day for the reveal for the Toast of the Town necklace that Erin Prais-Hintz, Tresori-Trovati, Treasures Found Blog! Erin is a true inspiration and such a kind and encouraging soul! I am always inspired by her blog posts, she is a very thoughtful writer and encourages you to reach for the stars! When I first seen Erin's necklace Toast of the Town, I feel in love, it is beautiful and it combines layers, one of my favorite things. It is stunning to look at and I believe perfect for the holiday season. With the announcement of a blog hop, and for us fellow bloggers/designers to try our hand and making one too, I couldn't resist. I actually made two necklaces, one with a more earthly feel using some of the same components that Erin used in her Toast of the Town necklace and my second necklace is in gun metal, silver and glass.
Everything but the toggle from the earth tone necklace came from Michael's. I had a good time picking out my beads for these two pieces and I was really lucky to take advantage of there great sale and coupons. Thank you Michael's.
I would like to try another variation of this necklace using chain and beads I think that is would look really cool.
Check out the other participants,

Love my Husband
We had a big shake up in our life this week, my husband quit his job after 10 years! He has actually worked for the company for 16 years but has had a few other jobs in between. I wondered how he was feeling, if he would be devastated by his decision. He would be considered a workaholic, he has dedicated so much time and energy into this company. I do not know anyone who works as hard as he does, it has been an argument many times between us, about how much times he spends at work and away from the family. I have wondered sometimes where his loyalties lied. I know that he was working hard for our family trying to provide a good life for us, but we missed him, and I have sometimes been resentful for carrying the load at home.
I realized though that I haven't told him often enough about how much I appreciate him and all of the sacrifices he has made in the name of our family. We haven't had a real family vacation in over 5 years, he hasn't went fishing in probably 3 years one of his favorite things to do. I am hoping that this new leaf will allow us to enjoy each other more, and for him to enjoy his life, because the poor guy hasn't really had a break!
I really love my hubby!! It is uncertain times for us because he doesn't have another job as of yet but I know that he will do amazing whatever he does and I am glad that he is making decisions that will be good for him in the long run!!

The reason why I wanted to share with you today was that Christine honored me on the weekend with a blogger award the Artistic Blogger. I was so touched and flattered by all of the wonderful and thoughtful things that Christine had to say about me and my blog. Thankful Thursday!
When I was in my late 20's and early 30's I needed some guidance, I was feeling lost and needed direction, and not to feel so bad about myself or my life. I have always been an Oprah fan and I have brought some things up about her before, but Oprah put be in the direction of Sarah Ban Breathnach and Iyanla Vanzant and I can tell you both of these women and their teachings have helped me through some rough times and to overcome some rough obstacles.
One of the things I did was create a gratitude journal, at first it was hard to see all of the blessings in my life but each day got easier because I now believe any kindness someone shows us something to be grateful for, so that is what I want to talk about today 5 things I am grateful for:
1. Having a great lead driver who is considerate and kind who has given me great advice.
2. Having wonderful vendors that I purchase beads from who understand about life getting in the way.
3. Wonderful friends!
4. My health!
5. My family!
Have you tuned into Iyanla's new show on OWN, Iyanla Fix My Life! I love Iyanla's approach to counseling, she helps you to figure out your roll in a situation and how you can own it and your actions. A huge lesson, it is always so easier to blame others but the hard truth is sometimes staring right at you in the mirror. She also encourages loving ourselves and how important that is in our goal of having a love fulfilled life.
What are you grateful for today? I would love to hear all about it!
Much love,
Penny

6th Bead Soup Blog Party - 3rd reveal
Welcome to the 3rd reveal of the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party!! You have arrived at Copper Penny Designs and my wonderful partner for this reveal was Marta Kaczerowska, uhuhu from Poland. Marta sent me a mix of yellow and navy blue for my bead soup.
I didn't have any specific ideas in mind but my Bohemian Inspired Jewelry book showed up and I just had to make these cute little earrings. I love them, they are so me, I have been wearing them a lot. Combining my love of copper with yellow.
I made another pair of earrings from Bohemian Inspired Jewelry. I really like how they turned out and I think they will be perfect for the fall and they are so light, you can barely feel them in your ears. They are used with two different sizes of blue pearl. Love this gemstone, is glitters and shines so beautifully.
My next piece was a bracelet, Marta sent me some thicker cording which I believe is hemp. I put together a multi-strand bracelet that is very simple with gunmetal findings. The lampwork bead is from Glassbead Art, my first bead soup partner Maryse Thillen.
My second bracelet combined seed beads and Sodalite, with a TheaToo button. I think these are so adorable.
I tackled a necklace, and wanted to combine several elements from the soup that Marta sent me. I love the cylinder crocheted bead that Marta sent and wanted to make it the focal of the necklace.
My last piece is probably my favorite piece that I created. This bracelet's inspiration comes from Songbeads, Rebecca Anderson, I received some beads from Rebecca a little while back and I thought they would make a beautiful bracelet and I used her pattern. The bracelet uses the lovely clasp that Marta sent me.
This was the most productive bead soup for me and I have very few beads left from what Marta sent me and I was not working under the wire, I have had most of these pieces done for several weeks.
Thank you so much to Marta for being such a great partner, please check out what Marta has made with her soup Uhuhu. A huge THANK YOU to Lori Anderson for putting this great soup on her tireless work, keeping us all organized is so appreciated.
Please check out the rest of the participates!
